Jaleesa is a fourth year PhD student in the Lifelong Kindergarten research group at the MIT Media Lab researching the different ways youth of color interact with computers and technology.

About Jaleesa

According to Jaleesa's website, her goal is to give marginalized youth access to STEM technologies and equip educators with the resources to provide an equitable learning environment. 

Prior to graduate school, she was the coordinator at the computer clubhouse in Tacoma, WA—where she also participated as a member from 7th-12th grade.

 

Jaleesa is also a community organizer with a group called Tacoma Action Collective. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Washington in Human Centered Design and Engineering with a concentration in Human Computer Interactions.
